Coat Types
Standard VS Fluffy
What’s the difference?
Isla – Fluffy(Bottom Left) Regina – Standard (Top Right)
There are two coat types in the Pembroke Welsh Corgi: Standard and Fluffy. While most Corgis have the Standard coat, some carry the recessive “Fluffy” gene. For a Corgi to have a full Fluffy coat, they must inherit two copies of this gene—one from each parent.
Health and Care: Contrary to some beliefs, there are no health risks associated with fluffy coats since the gene is simply part of their DNA.
Plus, they tend to shed less than standard coat corgis, making them a great choice for those who want a furry friend without the extra mess!
Fluffy corgis were often considered undesirable for farmers and ranchers in the past because their longer fur could attract dirt and debris while working, making them less practical for herding tasks. However they still possess the same playful and loving personalities as their standard coat counterparts!
